SPORTS REPORT 2016-17

During the year of 2016-17 our college teams participated in the Calicut University inter-collegiate tournaments in various events like volleyball, kho-kho, boxing, cricket, badminton, athletics, football and Tennis.

Volleyball team secured 3rd place in the D zone competition and participated in the inter-zone tournament.

Shamnad K.A., Ist B.A. Malayalam got selection to the ‘D’ zone Cricket team.

Devika Vijayam, IInd B.A. History, secured gold medal in Thrissur District amateur Athletic Championship in 1500m and 3000m race and participated in the state Athletic Meet representing Thrissur district.

College hosted the Calicut University Inter-zone Men and Women Tennis championship for the academic year 2016-17.

Inter house matches were organized in the events volleyball, cricket, badminton, football, caroms and chess. The Annual Athletic Meet was organized in the month of February in a colorful manner. The overall championship was bagged by Red House.

SPORTS REPORT 2017-18

During The academic year of 2017-18 our sportsmen performed meritoriously at various levels of competitions. Our college teams participated in the Calicut University Intercollegiate tournaments in events such as cricket, volleyball, football, badminton, Tennis, athletics, swimming etc.

College Volleyball team secured 3rd place in the “D” zone championship and participated in the Calicut University Inter-zone competitions for the 6th year consecutively.

Devika Vijayan, IIrd B.A. History secured gold medal in 1500m and 5000m.

Praveena Unnikrishnan, IInd B.A. Malayalam secured gold medal in Shot put and Javelin throw in the Thrissur District Athletic Championship. They both participated in the Kerala State Athletic Championship held at Eranakulam.

Our college hosted Calicut University Men and Women Inter-zone Tennis Championship for the year 2017-18. Dr. Shafeeq V.A., Asst. Professor, Dept. of Physical Education, was assigned as the coach of Calicut University Men and Women Tennis team and coaching camps  were also held in this college. Both Men and Women team participated in the South Zone Intervarsity Championship held at SV Uinversity, Tirupathy and GITAM University, Visakhapatnam, respectively.

The annual sports meet was held on 9th March 2018.   Green house and Yellow house emerged as the join winners of overall championship. Shamnad K.M, IInd B.A. Malayalam and Praveena T.U., IInd B.A. Malayalam emerged as individual champions.

In collaboration with the SkyHIgh Tennis Academy, Irinjalakuda, tennis coaching has been provided to the students of various schools in the adjacent community. Around 20 kids from 5 years onwards actively participated in the summer camp held during April and May.  An experienced and AITA certified coach was in charge of the training programme. It was also decided to continue the coaching camp during weekends and holidays.

Vishnupriya K, Ist M.A. Malayalam, was member of the Calicut University Ball Badminton team which secured 2nd place in the All India Intervarsity Championship.

Anju Kishor, Ist B.Sc. Polymer Chemistry and Anjana A.U., Ist B.Sc. Botany, were members of the Kerala team which secured 3rd place in the National Junior Ball Badminton Championship.

Aiswarya and Amritha, Ist B.A. History, represented Eranakulam district and participated in the Kerala State Junior Ball Badminton Championship.

Vishnupriya K.S., II M.A. Malayalam, secured 2nd place in Youth National Ball Badminton Championship held in Bihar.

Anjana A.U, 2nd B.Sc. Botany, was selected to the Calicut University Women Ball Badminton Team and participated in the all India Intervarsity Championship held at  Amaravathi University, Andhra.

Aiswarya M.S, IInd B. A. History and Surya, Ist B. Sc. Zoology, selected to the Eranakulam district team and participated in State Ball Badminton championship.

Yadhukrishna V. M., 1st B.A. Malayalam, participated in State Youth Volleyball Championship representing Thrissur district.

Arun V.S, 3rd B. A. Malayalam and Mohammed Anas, 1st B. A. History, participated in the state beach volleyball championship representing Thrissur district

As an extension activity of the Physical Education department, tennis coaching has been provided to the students of various schools in the adjacent community.  An experienced and AITA certified coach was in charge of the training programme. 

ANNUAL SPORTS REPORT 2020-21.

Under the supervision of qualified coaches, training has been provided to the college teams in events like football, cricket, tennis, volleyball, badminton and ball badminton.

Friendly matches were also organized in which the college teams played against local clubs and other colleges in team events.

The college football, cricket, volleyball, ball badminton and shuttle badminton teams participated in the Calicut University ‘D’ zone inter-collegiate tournaments. Volleyball team secured 3rd place and participated in the Inter-one championship.

Volleyball, badminton and ball badminton team participated in Thrissur district tournaments.

Yadhukrishna V. M., 2nd B.A. Malayalam, participated in State SeniorVolleyball Championship representing Eranakulam district.
