The cut throat competition at all levels in the job market demands a support system that enables the students of an institution not only the attainment of academic excellence but to find a comfortable placement in life. Career guidance cell of this College plays a crucial role in guiding the students to various openings suitable to their competency, economic resources and personal choices. Since the student intake is from different social, economic and academic backgrounds, the students require a well-planned and organized career counselling at the institutional level for their career progression. Career guidance cell facilitate students for goal settings, positive interaction, multiple intelligence, self-awareness, IQ, EQ, leadership qualities, inter personal and intra personal relationships. The cell organizes activities that motivate and encourage students for interaction, articulation and exploration.

The cell works under the guidance of CGC officers who are seasoned academicians and professionals. The Principal and all faculty members extend their wholehearted support to the functioning of the unit.

Vedic Mathematics for faster calculations in competitive examinations

The idea of vedic mathematics and its application for easy and faster calculations in competitive examinations was discussed in this session. Shri. Eanas V. I., Faculty at Carie Academy served as the resource person for the programme. About 118 students participated in the programme.

Orientation towards various examinations conducted by Kerala Public Service Commission

An orientation class was arranged to acquaint the students to various examinations conducted by Kerala public service commission. The programme also addressed general topics such as how to prepare for the examinations and interview, time management during examination etc. Syllabuses for various examinations were also discussed in the session. The classes were led by Sri Shinoj E. S., Tutor at Fast Track PSC Coaching centre Kodungallur. Nearly 71 students attended the programme.

Campus recruitment Programme: Reliance Jio Digital

Reliance Jio digital conducted a campus placement programme for recruiting students for their various part time and full time jobs. In order to orient the student to the placement programme, an introductory session was arranged by them on 23rd of January from 11.30 to 12.30 P.M. at college auditorium. Officials from Jio Digital Life Viz Vineeth Sunny, Faisal P, Antony kokkad and Gopakumar G led the classes. About 124 students (including Graduate and Post graduate) attended the session. The recruitment programme conducted later was attended by 50 students and from among them 27 candidates were shortlisted. The interview was carried out by the Jio digital life officials Vineeth Sunny, Faisal P, Antony kokkad and Gopakumar G. The selected candidates were called for further training and interview at the office of Jio Digital Life.

Introduction to the certification course SAP

SAP provides solutions across different applications that include logistics, CRM solutions, manufacturing etc. SAP certification can help to add value to the existing job and help in professional growth. The programme was conducted to introduce the students to the potentiality of SAP as job oriented course. Smt. Anitha C., Accounting faculty at G-Tech Education, Irinjalakuda was the resource person for the programme. A total of 91 students attended the programme.

Employability Skill Development Programme

The Employability Skills Development course aimed to provide students awareness about employer expectations and the working environment. The class was led by the student counsellor Nandakumar Nair. 67 students of various departments of K. K. T. M Government College attended the programme.

Career Guidance Cell REPORT 2018-2019

The Career Guidance Cell of K.K.T.M. Govt. College organized a series of programmes during the academic year 2018-19 for the all round career development of the students. The Career Guidance Cell started this year’s activities with a session by TCS ION Training partner, Thrissur. The session was about TCS Open Ignite (TCS Placement Drive) and current Software Technologies at Seminar hall on 26/7/18 11.30 AM. Mr. Prakash P V, TCS ION Training Partner, Thrissur handled the session for the students. The target group was the second and third year students of science batches. Around 150 students participated in that class.

A class on how to apply for TCS Open Ignite 2018 was conducted at ORICE room at 12.30 p.m. on 25/10/18. Mr. Prakash P V, TCS ION Training Partner, Thrissur took class for the students. Around 20 students participated in that class.

An awareness class was conducted on “Career Opportunities” by Reliant group in the College Auditorium at 11.30 a.m on 29/10/18. Mr. Abin James, Career Development Manager, Reliant Group Ernakulam and Mr. Abishek M S, Career Development Manager, Reliant Group Ernakulam have taken two sessions for our students. The target group was final degree students of our college. Around 102 students have participated in that programme.

The Career Guidance Cell in collaboration with “Times of India” Newspaper professionals took a session on the need for reading English newspapers daily. The session was arranged in the seminar hall at 12.15p.m. on 16/11/18. The target group was the degree and PG students of our college. Around 50 students have participated in that class. Mr. Robin Davis, Senior Officer, Times of India engaged classes for the students.

An Employment Skill Development Programme was organized in the Seminar hall at 11.30 a.m. on 6/2/19. Mr. Nandakumar Nair, Career Counsellor, Galaxy Education Trust, Thrissur handled the session for the students. The target group was the third year degree students of the college.Around 90 students participated in that programme.

A class was conducted on Aviation, hospitality, logistics and Supply Chain Management in the Final Year history Class at 10.30 a.m. on 22/2/19. The target group was the final year History and Malayalam degree students of the college. Around 50 students participated in that class. Mr. Sreekumar handled the session on Supply chain management and Mr. Sherin P. spearheaded the session on Aviation and Hospitality.

Remya K. of II D.C. History of our College participated in the All India Essay Writing Event 2018 organized by Shri Ram Chandra Mission in collaboration with United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan. The Career Guidance Cell motivated and directed the P.G. students of the College to apply for the post of Skill Development Executives in ASAP. The Career Guidance Cell was thus actively involved in promoting and mentoring students for developing their career and communication skills in a commendable manner
